The Bensalem Township School District is seeking to hire school aides to work with students and manage lunch and recess at Faust Elementary School to help maintain safety and orderly operation of the school.
POSITION TITLE: School Aide REPORTS TO:The School Aide is directly responsible to the principal. POSITION GOAL: To maintain a calm, orderly and pleasant atmosphere in the school cafeteria and other areas in school where assigned. To offer meaningful playground leadership, see that safety rules and regulations are followed.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1)Possess appropriate level of education and experience to perform the essential duties relative to the position. 2)Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, safety manuals, etc. and to generate routine reports and correspondence pertinent to the essential job duties. 3)Ability to communicate and to demonstrate interpersonal skills effectively in dealing with students, staff, parents, community members, and educational agencies as related to performance of the duties of the position. 4)Ability to perform mathematical operations and to apply mechanical skills and technical skills to accomplish the essential duties of the position. 5)Ability to interpret and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 6)Ability to perform routine tasks cooperatively and to adjust to interruptions, variables, or changes in standardized situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Cafeteria 1. Organizes students into orderly lines for purchasing food and sees that they go to assigned tables. 2. Helps students develop and observe proper dining habits, both in terms of etiquette and nutrition. 3. Assists younger students with use of utensils when needed. 4. Organizes groups for orderly disposal of food wastes, trays and utensils. 5. Organizes groups for orderly dismissal from the lunchroom. 6. Circulates among the tables to help children who need help and to resolve any minor problems that arise. 7. Informs teacher on duty of any serious infractions of disciplinary rules by students. 8. Performs other related duties as may be assigned or necessary for an efficient operation. Playground 1. Monitors students at playtime and maintains a harmonious atmosphere. 2. Organizes group games and activities. 3. Assists in checking play equipment for safety. 4. Assists movement of groups to and from playground. 5 Performs other related duties as may be assigned or necessary for an efficient operation. School 1. Assists teachers in running off dittos, etc. when applicable by building assignment. 2. Assists teachers in checking papers, workbooks, etc. when applicable by building assignment. 3. Designs and assembles bulletin boards when applicable by building assignment. 4. Performs other related duties as may be assigned or necessary for an efficient operation.
