. First Tech Challenge Team Coach: (Middle School) FIRST Tech Challenge students learn to think like engineers. The students design, build and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. Guided by other coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation and working as a team.

The program is built around theme-based challenges to engage middle school ( leading into high school) aged students to research, problem-solving, coding and engineering. The foundation of the program is the FIRST Core Values which emphasizes teamwork, discovery and innovation. Students emerge more confident, excited, and equipped with the skills they need in a changing workforce.

1 Building Coach Role and Responsibility:

• Manage up to 2 teams (approximately 15 members per team) within said middle school building(s)

• Recruit members for teams.

• Create and maintain a form of communication with parents.

• Run after school practices weekly.

• Maintain records and forms for all teams and team members.

• Attend at least one qualifying event (Complete all paperwork for qualifying events for team including transportation)

• Collaborate through coach meetings at least once a month (Coordinate between both middle schools)

• Coordinate all High School robotic volunteers to the various schools as well as being the contact person for those volunteers. • Create and follow a team budget.

• Order and maintain all supplies for teams.

• Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to support the team’s goals/budgets.

• Complete other duties as needed/assigned for a successful program.

Assignment Parameters: • Season runs August-December and April-June • Compensation - $2500.00 Interviews may be necessary to determine the best-qualified person. Experience with First Robotics is preferred
